Barack Obama, U.S. president from 2009-2017, was America’s first Black president. During his presidency, the Affordable Care Act was signed into law in March 2010. He also appointed Sonia Sotomayor to the Supreme Court. Obama’s library plans to be completely digital, with original documents preserved for safekeeping. The artifact collection features over 35,000 objects preserved for research and exhibition, encompassing art, books, clothing, domestic furnishings, sports equipment and other materials representing the Obama Administration.
