Dwight “Ike” Eisenhower, U.S. president from 1953-1961, was a former five-star general and World War II hero. His library and museum features 26 million pages of historical records and papers, 335,000 photographs, 70,000 artifacts plus reels of motion picture film and audio recordings of such momentous conversations as Presidents Kennedy and Johnson soliciting Ike’s advice on handling the Vietnam War. A day-by-day look at history in the making is provided with Eisenhower’s “Presidential Appointment Books,” which describe each day of Eisenhower’s two terms as president. The library also includes oral histories of people who worked with or supported Eisenhower and a vast collection of his recorded speeches.
