Rising together through
better civics education

End of the Oregon Trail Interpretive Center

Oregon City, OR

The center offers a range of authentic stories of those impacted by the Westward Migration to Oregon Trail. Enriched, live action programs illustrate the trail’s significance on developing the Oregon territory. Features include daily history talks, demonstrations of pioneer crafts and games, monthly music and dance events and genealogy research resources. Pioneers heading west were typically poor and looking for a better life. The grueling trek took at least four months in wagons pulled by teams of four or six oxen, paired in yokes. Many travelers underestimated the demands of the journey and had to discard treasured possessions in favor of essential goods.
