George W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum
Dallas, TX
George W. Bush, U.S. president from 2001-2009, was in office when terrorists attacked the country on Sept. 11, 2001. Bush authorized the search for those responsible, ultimately leading to the death of Al Qaeda founder Osama bin Laden. In addition to the war on terrorism, Bush signed a $1.35 trillion tax cut plus a nuclear arms treaty with Russia into law. The library features 70 million pages of textual materials, including information on the search for weapons of mass destruction. The museum maintains approximately 43,000 artifacts, primarily foreign and domestic gifts given to the Bushes, and other items including the bullhorn used by Bush during his visit to the World Trade Center after the terrorist attacks.
