National Eagle Center
Wabasha, MN
The Center’s mission is about connecting people with eagles in nature, history and cultures. As home to non-releasable bald and golden eagles, NEC uses “Eagle Ambassadors” to educate visitors about the ecology, biology and natural history of eagles, sharing tidbits including: eagles have an average wingspan range from 6 to 7.5 feet, live 20-25 years in the wild and can see something the size of a rabbit three miles away. They also discuss the symbol and significance of eagles in American history and emphasize the need for eagle habitat conservation. The Upper Mississippi River Valley is home to hundreds of bald eagles.
