Old World Wisconsin
Eagle, WI
This historic site looks back at the lives of immigrants who left the Old World for a new life but maintained some of the traditions of their ancestral homes. It includes 60 restored historic structures on over 600 acres. Each area showcases different periods from the 1840s through the 1910s, with historic places to visit, gardens and trails and costumed interpreters who serve as guides and historians. Demonstrations of daily life feature cooking, chores, crafts, trades and games. Main Street includes a church and working blacksmith shop. There is also the opportunity to learn about an early African-American community in Wisconsin and examine the homes of Pomeranian, Polish and Hessian immigrants.
