Yorba Linda, CA
Richard Nixon, U.S. president from 1969-1974, resigned from office during his second term in the aftermath of the Watergate break-in. While this defined Nixon’s presidency, he is credited with fostering improved relations with China and the Soviet Union. He was also president when the Paris peace accord ended America’s involvement in the Vietnam War in January 1973. The Nixon Presidential Materials Collection contains about 46 million pages of documents, 3,700 hours of recorded presidential conversations known as the “White House Tapes,” 4,000 separate recordings of broadcast video, nearly 4,500 audio recordings, 300,000 photographs, two million feet of film and more than 35,000 state and public gifts.
