Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum

Simi Valley, CA

Ronald Reagan, U.S. president from 1981-1989, was known as “The Great Communicator.” His presidency was marked by economic growth, military strengthening and new diplomatic allies abroad. On Dec. 8, 1987, in the East Room of the White House, Reagan and Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev signed the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty, which for the first time in history would eliminate an entire class of nuclear weapons. Their negotiations also led to tearing down the wall between East and West Berlin, giving East Berliners freedom. The library includes over 60 million pages of documents, including Reagan’s personal White House diary, and 40,000 artifacts such as Air Force One and a section of the Berlin Wall.
